The contract was fully funded at the time of signing with financial resources provided entirely by the United Arab Emirates. The arrangement is being managed through the Foreign Military Sales (FMS) program, with the U.S. Department of War acting as the intermediary.
Under the agreement, RTX specialists will provide operational support for the Patriot systems used by the UAE. Their responsibilities include logistical support, project management, implementation of system modifications, and delivery of spare parts packages.
The United Arab Emirates currently operates around twelve Patriot fire units. In recent days these systems have been heavily engaged in defending key ground infrastructure against attacks from Iran.
According to official statistics, the country’s air defense forces have intercepted more than 1,300 aerial targets as of March 6. These included 190 ballistic missiles, eight cruise missiles and more than 1,000 long-range loitering munitions.
In addition to Patriot systems, the UAE uses other air defense systems to protect its territory. Fighter aircraft and naval vessels have also been involved in countering aerial threats and supporting the country’s defensive operations.
