The procurement includes additional equipment that will allow future integration of the system into a Mobile Short-Range Air Defence (MSHORAD) solution. This move supports the continued development of Sweden’s national defence capabilities.
“We are continuously contributing to strengthening the capabilities of the Swedish Armed Forces and Saab’s air defence systems play a vital role in keeping Sweden’s skies secure,” said Görgen Johansson, head of Saab’s business area Dynamics. The system ordered includes advanced features such as an automatic target tracker and built-in night sight.
Saab’s RBS 70 NG enables defence against a range of threats, including aircraft, drones and missiles. The system offers a maximum engagement range of up to nine kilometres.
