The contract covers the delivery of Saab’s Warfare Live Training Simulator System (WLTSS), a comprehensive training platform designed for the Slovak Territorial Forces. According to Saab, the system will provide advanced training capabilities for up to 725 soldiers across individual and support weapons systems.
The WLTSS is designed to provide highly realistic training conditions through integrated simulation technologies. These include mortar and artillery simulations alongside sophisticated observer and controller tools intended to improve the quality and effectiveness of training exercises.
One of the system’s key features is its deployability, allowing the Slovak Armed Forces to conduct training across multiple locations throughout the country. This flexibility is intended to help territorial units maintain a high level of operational readiness across Slovakia.
The contract also includes an ambitious delivery schedule reflecting Saab’s operational capabilities. Deliveries of the full system are planned during 2026.
To allow training activities to begin earlier, Saab and the customer have arranged a temporary solution. A smaller system will be leased to enable training to start within less than one month after the contract signing and remain in use until the first lot of the permanent system is delivered.
Saab highlighted that the contract demonstrates the role of NSPA as a strategic partner in multinational defence procurement. The agreement was concluded within the established framework used by NATO member states to acquire defence capabilities cooperatively.
Joakim Alhbin, head of Saab’s business unit Training & Simulation, emphasised the operational benefits of the new system. “This contract reflects our commitment to delivering innovative training solutions that enhance the operational readiness of our customers.”
He added that Saab’s live training technology represents a leading capability in modern military preparation. “Saab’s world-leading Live training solution (the GAMER system) represents the pinnacle of modern training technology, and it will significantly improve the training effectiveness and soldier preparedness of the Slovak Territorial Forces.”
According to Saab, cooperation with NSPA played an important role in delivering the programme. The company said the dialogue and interactions between the parties throughout the procurement process had been effective and professional.
The Warfare Live Training Simulator System integrates multiple training elements into a single platform. By combining individual and support weapons training with advanced mortar and artillery simulation, the system enables soldiers and commanders to train in realistic combat scenarios.
Saab stated that these immersive exercises are designed to translate directly into operational effectiveness on the battlefield. The WLTSS therefore aims to provide practical, high-fidelity training experiences that strengthen the readiness of the Slovak Territorial Forces.
