Skydio X10D drones selected by NATO agency to boost ISR capabilities across member states

The NATO Support and Procurement Agency (NSPA) has selected U.S.-based drone manufacturer Skydio, in partnership with Belgian firm COBBS BELUX BV, as part of a new framework agreement for the supply and support of small intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) drones. The agreement falls under the Uncrewed Aerial Systems Support Partnership and enables NATO member nations and partners to procure and maintain nano-category uncrewed aerial systems (UAS) weighing under 2.5 kg.

The agreement falls under the Uncrewed Aerial Systems Support Partnership and enables NATO member nations and partners to procure and maintain nano-category uncrewed aerial systems (UAS) weighing under 2.5 kg.

 

Skydio will provide its X10D drone, chosen for its advanced autonomy, superior sensors, and mission flexibility. “With Skydio’s technology and COBBS’ regional expertise, NATO forces will have rapid access to cutting-edge aerial systems that can adapt to complex field operations,” the company stated.

Under the agreement, COBBS BELUX BV will manage sales, distribution, training, and lifecycle support for the Skydio platform across Europe. These activities will be delivered in close collaboration with Skydio to ensure fast and reliable capabilities for NATO customers.

 

 

The Skydio X10D is a next-generation nano UAS built for tactical deployment in complex operational environments. It features obstacle avoidance in both daylight and complete darkness, enabled by advanced onboard artificial intelligence.

The drone is equipped with high-performance electro-optical and infrared sensors, enabling day and night ISR capabilities. It also offers strong resilience against electronic warfare, using vision-based navigation and dynamic communication channel switching.

Compliant with both NDAA and Blue UAS security requirements, the X10D ensures secure data handling and interoperability. Its lightweight form factor, under 2.5 kg, supports rapid deployment in the field for missions such as reconnaissance, mapping, and overwatch.
