Smartshooter and IEA Mil-Optics secure major order from German Armed Forces

By Defence Industry Europe

Smartshooter and IEA Mil-Optics GmbH have announced a significant follow-on order to supply a mid-three-digit number of SMASH fire control systems to the German Armed Forces. This latest order highlights the growing confidence of international military forces in Smartshooter’s cutting-edge targeting technology.

The SMASH family of fire control systems enhances precision and effectiveness in targeting both ground-based and aerial threats, including drones. By integrating Artificial Intelligence, computer vision, and advanced algorithms, these systems transform conventional firearms into highly accurate, smart-shooting platforms.

The technology employs an onboard computer that locks onto targets, tracks their movements, and synchronizes shot release for maximum accuracy. This capability ensures improved hit probability, heightened situational awareness, and reduced collateral damage, offering military personnel a strategic advantage in complex combat environments.

SMASH systems are currently in use by armed forces in Germany, the UK, and several NATO countries. Their ability to counter evolving threats with precision and efficiency has solidified their reputation as a critical asset in modern warfare.

“On today’s battlefield, precision is not just an advantage—it is a necessity,” said Michal Mor, CEO of Smartshooter. “We are honoured by the continued trust of the German Armed Forces in our SMASH technology and see this order as a testament to its operational value.”

Sebastian Mücke, MIL/LE Sales Manager at IEA Mil-Optics GmbH, also emphasised the significance of the order. “This follow-on order reaffirms the high performance of the SMASH system and the trust that international armed forces place in it. We are proud to contribute to enhancing the operational capability and security of Germany.”
