SSC and Ovzon forge strategic partnership to enhance sovereign space capabilities

By Defence Industry Europe

SSC and Ovzon have formalised a teaming agreement to strengthen their existing partnership in developing sovereign space and satellite capabilities. This collaboration aims to provide advanced solutions to meet growing demands for secure and independent space operations.

Sovereign space capabilities are crucial for ensuring national security, economic resilience, and strategic independence. They empower nations to operate space systems autonomously, an increasingly important asset in today’s rapidly shifting geopolitical environment.

Ovzon’s innovative Ovzon 3 satellite, combined with SSC’s comprehensive space service expertise, positions the partnership to deliver unparalleled support. Their joint efforts will cater to Sweden, the Nordics, and NATO allies, focusing on multi-domain operations spanning air, land, and maritime sectors.

“This is a strategic teaming between two very complimentary organisations that will be able to deliver the most advanced and unique solutions in a very challenged world both from a geopolitical, total defence and sustainability perspective,” said Charlotta Sund, CEO of SSC.

With Sweden’s recent entry into NATO, this partnership is timely. Ovzon’s CEO, Per Norén, emphasised the company’s commitment to innovation, stating, “Our mission is to connect and protect people, societies and organisations for a better, more secure and sustainable world… We look forward to a continued partnership, enabling Sweden and its allies to face the challenges of today and tomorrow.”
