Sweden and Singapore sign long-term agreement to collaborate on land system

Sweden’s FMV Test and Evaluation (FMV T&E) and Singapore’s Defence Science and Technology Agency (DSTA) have signed a long-term agreement to collaborate on studies in the land systems domain. The agreement was formalised during a ceremony held on the sidelines of the Singapore Defence Technology Summit at the Shangri-La.

This new partnership continues and strengthens the longstanding cooperation between the two nations in defence technology. It aims to support mutual development through shared expertise and joint efforts in land systems innovation.

“This partnership with FMV will establish avenues for greater collaboration and sharing between the two nations,” said Mr Roy Chan, DSTA’s Deputy Chief Executive (Operations). “Exchanging insights with organisations that have deep technical expertise will ensure our forces are better equipped for the defence challenges of tomorrow.”

The agreement was signed by BG Jonas Lotsne, Director of the FMV Army Division, and Mr Roy Chan. A Swedish Ministry of Defence delegation, led by BG Patric Hjorth, attended the event alongside DSTA representatives including Mr Alex Lee, Director of Land Systems.

BG Jonas Lotsne commented, “The new collaboration agreement is a clear sign of the Swedish determination to deliver on the strategy and to forge and maintain strong and long-term relations with Singapore, a very appreciated and important partner to Sweden and FMV.” He added, “The collaboration is also fully aligned with the Swedish defence cooperation strategy in the Pacific.”

DSTA plays a key role in driving innovation and delivering advanced capabilities to support the Singapore Armed Forces. Its engineers and IT professionals leverage multidisciplinary expertise to develop state-of-the-art systems that also contribute to national-level developments.
