Sferical AI will provide participating firms with world-leading computing power for AI through an integrated, sovereign and secure infrastructure. “Through this initiative, we create the opportunity for some of Sweden’s leading companies to position themselves at the forefront of the rapid structural transformation of the business landscape brought about by the development and use of AI,” says Marcus Wallenberg, Chairman of Wallenberg Investments.
The AI system, planned for Linköping, will be powered by two NVIDIA DGX SuperPODs built on the latest NVIDIA DGX GB300 systems. Together, these will comprise 1,152 tightly interconnected GPUs, enabling rapid training and deployment of large and complex AI models.
In parallel, work will begin on establishing an NVIDIA AI Technology Centre in Sweden, which will collaborate with participating companies to adapt systems and develop new applications. Over time, the centre will also support wider Swedish industry by offering skills programmes such as NVIDIA Deep Learning Institute training.
Jenny Nordlöw has been appointed CEO of Sferical AI, while Anders Ynnerman will serve as Executive Chairman. “This initiative demonstrates the Swedish ability to collaborate on important issues. We will be able to leverage the combined expertise of the participating companies and we already see how the exchange between very different companies creates significant added value,” says Anders Ynnerman.
“I am humbled by the task of leading Sferical AI and look forward to, together with our partners, establishing the next generation of AI infrastructure in Sweden and strengthening the competitiveness of Swedish industry,” says Jenny Nordlöw.
