India has officially approved the development of its first indigenous stealth fighter jet, the Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft (AMCA), in a bid to modernise its air force and strengthen its position amid rising tensions with China and Pakistan. The announcement was made on 27 May 2025 by India’s Ministry of Defence.
