The U.S. military is preparing to accept F-35 fighter jets without onboard radars due to delays in the development of the next-generation AN/APG-85 system. The first such aircraft, an F-35B fitted with ballast instead of a radar, completed an acceptance flight in late February at Lockheed Martin’s facility in Fort Worth, Texas.
