Switzerland completes practical testing for new artillery system

Swiss Federal Office for Defence Procurement (armasuisse) announced on 3 September that it has successfully completed practical testing for three shortlisted artillery systems.

During August and September 2024, the Federal Office for Defence Procurement armasuisse is performing trials for defence against minidrones with several systems. The trials are intended to provide insights on the efficiency of the drone defence systems. The aim of this procurement project is to systematically establish capabilities in drone defence within the framework of the Army Dispatch 2027.

The Federal Office for Defence Procurement armasuisse is testing various domestic and foreign systems for defence against minidrones, supported by the group Defence and the RUAG.

armasuisse has accepted a further delivery of the radar-guided missiles model AIM-120 C-7 approved with the 2017 armament programme. The transport took place today on board an US Air Force Lockheed C-130J. The aircraft landed at the Payerne Military Air Base on May 16.
