Leonardo’s UK-based electronic warfare (EW) division has been awarded a USD 33 million contract by the US Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR) to supply BriteCloud 218 Active Expendable Decoys (AEDs) for the Lockheed Martin F-35 Lightning II fighter aircraft. Officially confirmed as a sole-source agreement on 5 December 2024, the contract follows the system’s approval earlier this year and represents a significant milestone for the UK defence firm.
