Lockheed Martin has received a contract modification worth up to $1 billion from the U.S. Department of Defense to further develop the Conventional Prompt Strike (CPS) hypersonic weapon system. The system will be installed first on Zumwalt-class destroyers and later on Virginia-class submarines to provide rapid, non-nuclear strike capabilities.
