The Global Combat Air Programme (GCAP) has reached a major milestone with the launch of Edgewing, a new joint venture established by BAE Systems (UK), Leonardo (Italy), and Japan Aircraft Industrial Enhancement Co. Ltd. (Japan). Edgewing will be responsible for designing and developing the next generation combat aircraft, with authority over the product throughout its life cycle, expected to extend beyond 2070.
