Kallas: Europe needs to improve its own defence capabilities

Estonian Prime Minister Kaja Kallas delivered a speech at the European Defence & Security Summit in Brussels, urging European governments and defence industry representatives to step up efforts to boost defence readiness.

Over 850 participants (400 on-site and 450 online) gathered for a European Defence & Security Summit co-hosted by the Aerospace, Security and Defence Industries Association of Europe (ASD) and European Business Summits (EBS) in Brussels on May 11. The event brought together key societal stakeholders to discuss some of the most pressing challenges facing European defence and security in a dramatically changed security environment, especially in light of Russia’s brutal war against Ukraine.
