U.S. Department of Defense awards USD 7 billion for NGAP engine development programme

The U.S. Department of Defense announced contracts with General Electric and Pratt & Whitney to advance the Next Generation Adaptive Propulsion (NGAP) programme.

GKN Aerospace and GE strengthen existing partnership with wide-ranging new agreement, covering new technology, original equipment production and expanded aftermarket engagement in the GEnx programme. Wide-ranging agreement includes introduction of sustainable new material solutions, as well as life-of-programme contracts for the GEnx, CF6, GE90 and GE9X fan cases. GKN Aerospace also joins the global GEnx engine repair network, supporting more than 2,000 engines currently in service.

GKN Aerospace and GE have deepened their long-term partnership on a series of industry-leading engines including the GEnx programme.

GE Marine signed an agreement with TAIS OG-STM İş Ortaklığı in Istanbul, Türkiye, to provide the LM2500 marine gas turbine engine in a new lightweight composite enclosure for the İstif-Class frigates, numbers 6, 7, and 8 in the Turkish MILGEM Project. The lightweight enclosure debuted on the U.S. Navy’s USS Santa Barbara in April. Türkiye’s Navy converted from the steel engine enclosure for the redesigned frigates to benefit from the many features of the one-piece composite enclosure.
