Romania set to acquire M1A2 Abrams tanks in USD 2.5 billion deal

The U.S. Department of State has announced its approval of Romania’s request for the potential purchase of M1A2 Abrams tanks, valuing the entire package at a maximum of USD 2.5 billion.

On 17th May, the Defence, Public Order, and National Security Committee of the Romanian Chamber of Deputies approved the Ministry of National Defence's request to authorise the acquisition of 54 M1A2 SEPv3 main battle tanks from the United States.
