Safran and MTU Aero Engines to jointly develop engine for European next generation military helicopters

Safran Helicopter Engines and MTU Aero Engines have signed the cooperation agreement to create the 50/50 joint venture EURA (derived from EUropean Military Rotorcraft Engine Alliance).

MTU Aero Engines AG increased revenue by 31% to €1.54 billion in the first quarter of 2023 (1- 3/2022: €1.18 billion). Operating profit1 increased by 62% from €131 million to €212 million. The adjusted EBIT margin rose from 11.1% in the first quarter of 2022 to 13.7% in the first quarter of 2023. Net income2 climbed 70% from €93 million to €157 million.

MTU Aero Engines is taking over eMoSys GmbH, an electric motor developer and small-volume manufacturer based in Starnberg. That will help Germany’s leading engine manufacturer consistently expand its know-how and its activities relating to electrification of the power train.
