The project "Instantaneous Infrastructure Monitoring by Earth Observation" (IIMEO) proposed by a European consortium coordinated by OHB Digital Connect GmbH, a subsidiary of space and technology group OHB SE, has been selected for implementation by the European Commission. IIMEO is funded by the European Union under the Horizon Europe programme as an innovation action with €2.8 million and runs until 30 November 2025. It aims to develop and demonstrate key technologies for the global monitoring of critical infrastructures from space in near real time. A pilot application will be the monitoring of railway tracks.

The European Space Agency (ESA) has awarded OHB System AG a €175.5 million contract for the development of a third Copernicus CO₂ Monitoring (CO₂M) satellite. This follows the initial contract awarded in 2020 for the first two satellites, reinforcing OHB’s role in Europe’s Earth observation efforts.

The European Space Agency (ESA) has awarded OHB System AG a €175.5 million contract for the development of a third Copernicus CO₂ Monitoring (CO₂M) satellite.

German space technology company OHB System AG has secured a contract worth over EUR 280 million from the European Space Agency (ESA) to lead the development of two innovative Earth observation satellites. These satellites are central to ESA's "Earth Explorer 10" Harmony mission, part of its FutureEO programme, which aims to support advanced research into climate change and Earth system dynamics.

OHB System AG, a subsidiary of the space technology group OHB SE, has been selected as the main partner of Spanish space company GMV for the development and assembly of four satellites and the associated payloads for the LEO-PNT (Low Earth Orbit - Positioning Navigation Timing) navigation satellite programme. The contract between the client ESA (European Space Agency) and GMV was signed this week in Paris. OHB is working on this mission as a subcontractor to GMV: OHB’s share of the total contract is valued at around EUR 38 million.

A consortium led by OHB System AG has been selected to conduct a study to examine the technological and programmatic framework for the development of a new European Earth-Observation service.

The view from space is crucial for observing our blue planet even more closely to obtain more precise data for tackling climate change as well as for monitoring and mapping the Earth's surface. Therefore, work is already underway to develop the next generation of Sentinel-2 satellites for the European Earth observation programme Copernicus. The OHB System AG, a subsidiary of the space and technology group OHB SE, has been contracted by the European Space Agency (ESA) for the mission and system definition of the Next Generation Sentinel-2 mission, and to prepare the following implementation phase. Two parallel contracts of a volume of six million euros each and a nominal duration of 2.5 years have been awarded by ESA for this so-called definition phase.

The OHB System AG has been contracted by the European Space Agency (ESA) for the mission and system definition of the Next Generation Sentinel-2 mission.

The two reflector satellites of the SARah reconnaissance system were successfully launched on December 24 from Vandenberg Space Force Base in California, USA. SpaceX's Falcon 9 rocket lifted off from Launchpad SLC-4E at 14:11 CET and deployed its two passengers in space on schedule after a flight time of 25 minutes. Shortly afterwards, the first signals from the two satellites were received. This has kicked-off the so-called Launch and Early Orbit Phase (LEOP), during which the satellites will be booted up system by system and checked for functionality. The satellites are also manoeuvred into their final orbits during this phase.

SARah: new German reconnesaince satellites successfully launched

SARah is the successor mission to the SAR-Lupe system, which has been in service since 2007.

A joint bidding consortium led by OHB System AG (a subsidiary of the space and technology group OHB SE) has been awarded a EUR 90 million grant from the European Commission for the ODIN'S EYE II project, which is being implemented under the European Defence Fund and is aimed at developing a European multinational space-based early warning and tracking system for ballistic missiles. The industrial consortium consists of 38 companies from 14 European member states, including Airbus Defence and Space, Thales Alenia Space, Leonardo and the ArianeGroup.

The project will receive EU funding of EUR 90 million from the European Defense Fund (EDF) and additional member States’ co-financing.

The satellite is built by OHB and will provide images with an extremely high level of detail. The main component is a large telescope. For this optical system, HENSOLDT is constructing a total of four mirrors of different sizes. The mirrors are made of Zerodur, a glass ceramic with very low thermal expansion, HENSOLDT said in a press release.
