Lockheed Martin has announced a $50 million investment in maritime autonomous systems company Saildrone to accelerate the development of armed unmanned surface vehicles (USVs) for the U.S. Navy.
Saildrone has concluded a successful deployment of its Voyager uncrewed surface vehicles (USVs) during NATO’s Task Force X Baltic demonstration, held from 16 to 27 June 2025.
The Saildrone Voyager is a 10-metre USV developed for near-shore ISR and maritime security missions.
The first four Saildrone Voyagers are set to be deployed in the Baltic Sea in June 2025, under a contract with the Danish Armed Forces.
