Japan has increased its efforts to integrate components of an Israeli air defence system into its own operational systems. Japan is very concerned as North Korea is becoming more aggressive. North Korea possesses nuclear weapons and has launched approximately 40 ballistic missiles that, in parts of their trajectory, crossed Japanese airspace.
