Sweden deploys Gripen fighter jets to Poland in first NATO Air Policing mission abroad

Sweden has officially begun its first overseas contribution to NATO’s Air Policing mission, following the arrival of six JAS 39 Gripen fighter jets at Malbork Air Base in Poland.

Saab has signed a contract with the Swedish Defence Materiel Administration (FMV) concerning support and maintenance services for the JAS 39 Gripen C/D fighter aircraft. The order ensures continued operation and a cost-effective solution regarding maintenance and availability of the system. The order is valued at SEK 308 million.

Sweden will take part in one of NATO’s largest air exercises, Ramstein Flag 2025, which runs from 31 March to 11 April and involves more than 90 aircraft.
