TEKEVER has announced the creation of a new Centre of Excellence for dual-use drones in Cahors, France. The decision follows close collaboration with the Occitanie region and the Greater Cahors urban community.

The new site will focus on production, integration, testing, and product development, supporting both defence and civil security missions. “This move reinforces TEKEVER’s long-term commitment to French and European sovereignty, and to supporting institutions in fulfilling both defence and security missions,” said Ricardo Mendes, CEO of TEKEVER.

Located in the “Mecanic Vallée” cluster, the Cahors site offers access to key industrial, academic and public partners, along with flight testing at the nearby Cahors-Lalbenque aerodrome. The facility will complement TEKEVER’s French headquarters in Toulouse, which opened in 2024 and specialises in engineering, R&D, and support.

Recruitment for the Cahors facility is due to begin in late 2025, marking a new phase in TEKEVER’s expansion in the Occitanie region. “This site represents an important step in anchoring TEKEVER within the regional fabric, where we see great potential to forge strong, long-lasting partnerships,” said Nadia Maaref, Director of TEKEVER France.

The development is part of TEKEVER’s €100 million investment plan announced at the Choose France summit in May 2025. As a recognised European unicorn, the company is increasing investment to support global expansion and leadership in autonomous defence systems.

Carole Delga, President of the Occitanie Regional Council, welcomed the move, stating: “France must be able to rely on a solid industrial base, especially given the current geopolitical instability.” She confirmed the project will create 100 jobs over five years and aligns with the region’s €200 million Sovereignty and Defence Industry Sector Contract.

Jean-Luc Marx, President of Grand Cahors and Mayor of Cahors, described the announcement as a historic shift for the region. “By welcoming this defence and security unicorn, the region is experiencing a real turning point in its history, becoming a key player in European industrial sovereignty,” he said.
