Tiberius Aerospace wins contract for 155mm Ramjet extended-range precision-guided artillery munition

By Defence Industry Europe

Tiberius Aerospace has announced the award of a UK Ministry of Defence (MoD) contract for the rapid trials and development of its liquid-fuelled 155mm Ramjet extended-range precision-guided artillery munition, known as Sceptre (TRBM 155HG). While specific details of the contract remain undisclosed, the agreement positions the UK MoD as the launch customer for Tiberius Aerospace, with the US Defence Innovation Unit (DIU) facilitating independent verification and validation of the technology.

Sceptre is designed to reach speeds of Mach 3.5 and altitudes above 65,000 feet, beyond jamming range, with a maximum range of up to 150km depending on payload. The system achieves a circular error probability (CEP) of less than 5m in GPS-contested battlespaces, compared with over 100m for traditional artillery, and is fully compatible with NATO standard 155mm platforms.

Founded in 2022 by Chad Steelberg and Andy Baynes, Tiberius Aerospace emerged from stealth mode at Future Artillery in May 2025 with the launch of Sceptre. The company’s engineers and strategists are applying Silicon Valley expertise, including experience at Google and Apple, to deliver cost-effective deep strike capabilities with extended shelf life and reduced logistical burden.

Tiberius will be present at DSEI 25 at ExCeL London from 9 to 12 September 2025 as an Aerospace sponsor, with dedicated meeting space to showcase its Silicon Valley approach to rapid design and development. The company will also launch its GRAIL platform on 10 September at the Cyber & Specialist Operations Command keynote forum, alongside UK and US defence innovation experts.

Andy Baynes, co-founder and CSO of Tiberius Aerospace, said, “Since the launch of Sceptre in May 2025, Tiberius has evolved the capability at pace through a series of high tempo live-firing and synthetic test cycles. We’re delighted to announce this UK MoD contract which has invested early in our technology development cycle. This is testament to the UK’s visionary leadership and their understanding of the importance of driving innovative solutions such as Sceptre and Defense-as-a-Service to increase national security.”
