The collaboration offers the French Army and allied forces a long-range strike capability that combines the most reliable, agile and deployable vehicle with a proven and highly effective fire control solution. The agreement supports efforts to modernise long-range precision strike capabilities in line with France’s 2024–2030 Military Programming Law.
“This alliance signed today is a major milestone for the European defence industrial base. Airbus Defence and Space was convinced by the approach taken by Turgis Gaillard in developing Foudre and responding quickly to the needs of the French Army. An innovative approach: Foudre is built on the best immediately available technologies. A global approach: with Foudre, AAROK and ODIN, we are at the forefront of multi-domain commitments,” said Fanny Turgis, President of Turgis Gaillard.
“With Foudre and Airbus’s fire control system, we are offering the Army a simple and pragmatic solution to replace the current LRU launchers and eliminate the risk of a capability gap. This solution is made possible by the expertise of Turgis Gaillard and the experience of Airbus. It will give the French armed forces a decisive operational advantage by shaping the enemy’s deployment in depth,” said Patrick Gaillard, Chief Executive of Turgis Gaillard.
Foudre was unveiled at the 2025 Paris Air Show and is a deep-strike system capable of firing precision-guided munitions at ranges of several dozen kilometres. The fire control system, developed by Airbus Defence and Space, is based on the European Fire Control System (EFCS), currently in use on existing launchers, and is considered the most advanced available to the French Army.
