Turkey: first test of SİPER Ürün 2 air defence missile [VIDEO]

By Defence Industry Europe

The initial test of the SİPER Ürün 2 air defence missile with a range of over 150 km has been successfully conducted in Turkey.

The primary aim of the test was to validate the structural parameters during actual flight. The gathered data will play a pivotal role in advancing the development of SİPER Ürün 2 interceptor. The test has been deemed successful.

The ongoing work on the SİPER Ürün 2 missile is being undertaken within Turkey as a component of the broader long-range regional air and missile defence system development initiative. This undertaking is executed by Aselsan, Roketsan, and Tubitak Sage, under the supervision of SSB.

The SİPER Ürün 1 missile, boasting a range exceeding 100 km, was the initial outcome of this development program. It is anticipated to be operational by 2023.

The SİPER program’s missiles are outfitted with advanced communication and guidance systems. They operate under the direction of a ground-based control center equipped with an integrated reconnaissance, command, target assignment, and flight control system.

Moreover, these missiles can function autonomously, particularly in conditions marked by intense radio-electronic interference. Subsequent missiles emerging from the program are projected to feature progressively extended ranges.
