“We dominate 65% of the entire global market in unmanned aerial vehicles,” Görgün said, highlighting Türkiye’s strong position in the field. He added that the country is concurrently finalising its 5th-generation aircraft and making preparations for the development of a 6th-generation model.
Görgün emphasised Türkiye’s strategy of prioritising indigenous and economical production techniques over replicating foreign models. “We know that we have to focus on original and cost-effective productions that we really need, not imitate what is being done anywhere in the world,” he said.
He credited this approach for the nation’s success in UAV development, pointing out that innovation over imitation has been key. “If we had imitated what the world was doing and copied others, Türkiye would not have achieved this success in UAVs today,” Görgün stated.
