Türkiye’s Bayraktar TB3 drone achieves historic milestone on TCG Anadolu [VIDEO]

The Bayraktar TB3, Türkiye's latest unmanned combat aerial vehicle (UCAV), has achieved a groundbreaking milestone. On Tuesday, it became the first UCAV to successfully take off and land on the short-runway carrier TCG Anadolu, marking a significant advancement in Türkiye’s defence capabilities.

“The Bayraktar TB3 has made history as the first unmanned aerial vehicle to successfully take off and land on the short-runway carrier TCG Anadolu!” Baykar Technologies proudly announced on X (formerly known as Twitter).

The TCG Anadolu, Türkiye’s first multi-purpose LHD-class amphibious assault ship, was commissioned last year. As a versatile warship, it serves as a critical component of the country’s naval ambitions, designed to operate with advanced systems like the TB3.

This historic achievement follows a series of rigorous tests conducted earlier this year. The Bayraktar TB3 successfully completed its first ski-jump test from a land-based platform and most recently finished its sixth such test, as shown in a video shared by Baykar just days ago.

Known for its innovative design, including foldable wings, the Bayraktar TB3 made its maiden flight in October 2023. This event coincided with the 100th anniversary of the Republic of Türkiye, symbolising a century of progress and technological achievement.

Baykar Technologies has cemented itself as Türkiye’s leading defence exporter, contributing to nearly a third of the defence sector’s record-breaking $5.5 billion in sales last year. This success underscores the company’s role in positioning Türkiye as a prominent player in global defence technology.
