A Bomber Task Force deployment of U.S. Air Force B-1B Lancer aircraft, along with Airmen and support equipment from the 9th Expeditionary Bomb Squadron, Dyess Air Force Base, Texas, arrived at Misawa Air Base, Japan, on 15 April 2025. The deployment supports Pacific Air Forces’ training with Allies, partners, and joint forces, while reinforcing strategic deterrence and regional stability in the Indo-Pacific.

These routine deployments aim to strengthen ongoing security cooperation between the United States and Japan. They also demonstrate the combined ability to respond swiftly and decisively to challenges in the region.

Bomber Task Force deployments enable aircrews to gain experience operating from bases within different Geographic Combatant Commands. This particular mission underlines the U.S. commitment to its Indo-Pacific allies and to maintaining peace and order across the region.

“BTF 25-2 showcases the U.S. commitment to deterring threats and maintaining regional stability,” said Lt. Col. Christopher Travelstead, director of operations for the 9th Expeditionary Bomb Squadron. “These missions in the Indo-Pacific ensure our B-1 crews are highly trained and ready to respond anytime, anywhere, to defend U.S. interests and support our allies, securing a stable Indo-Pacific—where all nations operate freely under a rules-based order while promoting global peace and prosperity.”
