The U.S. State Department approved a possible Foreign Military Sale to the Government of Norway, including M1156A1 Precision Guidance Kit (PGK) multi-option fuzes and associated equipment. The Defence Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA) has notified Congress of the potential sale, which is estimated at a total value of USD 130 million.

The Government of Norway has requested the purchase of 8,001 M1156A1 PGK multi-option fuzes. These advanced devices are designed to enhance the accuracy and precision of artillery systems. The request builds upon a previous Foreign Military Sales (FMS) case valued at USD 2.79 million, which included a range of PGK-related items such as cutaway models, fuze wrenches, GPS antennae, cables, and additional hardware for testing.

The newly proposed package expands on the initial agreement and encompasses non-Major Defence Equipment (MDE) items, including training aids, technical data and reports, improved Platform Integration Kits, and logistics support. The programme also provides for equipment training, spare parts, labour support, incidental travel, and U.S. government technical assistance.

“This proposed sale will enhance Norway’s artillery and mid-range fire capability,” the DSCA stated in its announcement. The improved artillery precision made possible by the M1156A1 fuzes will strengthen Norway’s military effectiveness and interoperability with allied forces.

Northrop Grumman Innovation Systems, based in Dulles, Virginia, will serve as the principal contractor for the sale. No offset agreements have been reported in connection with this transaction, ensuring a focused and efficient procurement process.
