Lockheed Martin successfully fired eight Spike NLOS all up rounds (AURs) over the course of five days from the U.S. Apache Echo Model V6 at Yuma Proving Ground in Arizona. The successful live fire event clears the Spike NLOS Long Range Precision Munitions Directed Requirement (LRPM DR) system for Airworthiness Release (AWR) for the U.S. Apache platform, which paves the way for starting to equip the system onto the U.S. Army’s current Apache V6 platforms.

The United States Army, in cooperation with the Polish Air Force Inspectorate, has successfully carried out a joint live fire campaign of the Spike NLOS missile system from a U.S. Army 12th Combat Aviation Brigade AH-64Ev6 Apache Guardian helicopter. The campaign, conducted on the northern coast of Poland, was described as a key milestone for allied long-range precision strike capabilities.

During the exercise, two Spike NLOS missiles engaged sea-based targets at distances of up to 25 kilometres, demonstrating both precision strike accuracy and flexible target engagement from a rotary-wing platform. Observers from multiple nations, including senior military representatives and defence officials, were present to witness the successful operational integration.

The campaign marked the first occasion on which the U.S. Army employed the Spike NLOS missile in the European theatre. According to the release, the missile’s integration on the AH-64E Apache underlined the system’s ability to address evolving mission requirements, especially in maritime and beyond-line-of-sight operations.

The event also highlighted the expanding strategic cooperation between the United States and Poland, reinforcing collective deterrence along NATO’s eastern flank. It pointed to the future potential of integrating Spike NLOS missiles onto Poland’s forthcoming AH-64E Apache fleet, thereby strengthening both national and regional defence capabilities.
