Top leaders from the 3rd Infantry Division Sustainment Brigade and the 1st Armored Division Sustainment Brigade conducted a site visit at the Powidz Army Prepositioned Stocks-2 worksite on 18 August 2025. The visit aimed to enhance understanding of APS-2 capabilities on NATO’s eastern flank and discuss areas of mutual assistance and cooperation.

Army Field Support Battalion-Poland Command Team Lt. Col. Michelle McDevitt and Sgt. Maj. Olimpia Valdez welcomed Col. Aaron Becker and Command Sgt. Maj. John Kreifels from the 3rd ID DSB, along with Col. Delarius Tarlton and Command Sgt. Maj. Olanrewaju Anibaba from the 1st AD DSB. They were provided with a comprehensive tour and briefing on AFSBn-Poland, the Powidz APS-2 worksite and the APS-2 programme.

“It’s important to host visits like this to help the leadership of our partner units gain a better understanding of APS-2 operations in Eastern Europe,” said Capt. James Bath, AFSBn-Poland’s operations officer. “All these visits to our site are fantastic opportunities to showcase our team’s hard work and the dedication of our Polish partners.”

The Powidz APS-2 site consists of 650,000 square feet of humidity-controlled warehouse space, a vehicle maintenance facility and several support structures. It stores a complete modernised armoured brigade combat team’s tactical vehicles and equipment, demonstrating U.S., Polish and NATO commitment to rapid deployment readiness.

AFSBn-Poland is one of four battalions under the 405th Army Field Support Brigade, which oversees six APS-2 sites across Europe in Poland, Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium and Italy. These facilities help reduce deployment timelines for an armoured brigade combat team from 60 days to as little as one or two weeks.

By providing turn-key APS-2 packages ready for immediate use, the 405th AFSB supports U.S. Army Europe and Africa’s mission of power projection, readiness and logistics. The brigade serves as the Army’s premier logistics integrator in Europe, operationalising U.S. Army Materiel Command capabilities and delivering readiness at the point of need.
