U.S. delivers heavy MK-84 bombs shipment to Israel in major defence transfer

By Defence Industry Europe

A shipment of heavy aerial bombs, recently approved by the U.S. government, has arrived in Israel in a joint operation led by the Israel Ministry of Defence (IMOD). The munitions, including MK-84 bombs, were unloaded overnight on Saturday at the Port of Ashdod and transferred to Israeli Air Force bases.

The operation was coordinated by the IMOD Mission to the U.S., the International Transportation Authority Unit, and the Defense Procurement Directorate (DPD). The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) Technological and Logistics Directorate played a key role in transporting the munitions via dozens of trucks to their designated locations.

Since the beginning of the current procurement efforts, Israel has received over 76,000 tons of military equipment through 678 airlifts and 129 sea shipments. This supply chain represents the largest air and sea bridge in Israel’s history, reinforcing the country’s military capabilities.

Israeli Defence Minister Israel Katz described the shipment as a strategic asset for the Israeli Air Force (IAF) and the IDF. He emphasised that this delivery highlights the strong alliance between Israel and the United States and strengthens Israel’s national security.

Katz also stated that in a recent conversation with U.S. Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth, America reaffirmed its commitment to providing Israel with the necessary military tools. He expressed gratitude to U.S. President Donald Trump and his administration for their unwavering support of Israel’s security needs.
