U.S. and Qatari forces successfully intercepted an Iranian ballistic missile targeting Al-Udeid Air Base near Doha, Qatar, according to a statement released today by U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM).

The joint response involved U.S. and Qatari Patriot missile batteries and resulted in no casualties among American or Qatari personnel.

CENTCOM praised the “professional, competent, rapid and coordinated response” of both nations’ forces, which ensured the attack was defeated. The interception highlights the strength of the military partnership between the United States and Qatar, which has lasted for over 50 years.

General Michael Erik Kurilla, Commander of U.S. Central Command, reaffirmed the United States’ commitment to regional defence, stating, “We will continue to aggressively defend our service members and partners in the region. Our adversaries should have no doubt about our resolve or our capabilities.”
