Acting Secretary of the Navy Hung Cao has appointed Andrew Magliochetti to lead the department’s work on defense industrial capacity and supply-chain resilience. His mandate includes expanding domestic manufacturing and accelerating the delivery of private-sector technologies to support the Navy’s Golden Fleet plans.

As Deputy Assistant Secretary of the Navy for the Defense Industrial Base, Magliochetti will serve as the principal civilian adviser to the service’s acquisition leadership. He will oversee the strategic integration, health and expansion of the industrial supply chain supporting naval readiness and modernization.

“The modernization of a lethal, combat-ready force and the development of our Golden Fleet depend on our ability to leverage cutting-edge technology and robust manufacturing,” Cao said. “Magliochetti’s deep experience in venture capital and national security technology makes him the ideal leader to spearhead this effort and ensure our supply chains deliver dominant warfighting capabilities at tactical speed.”

Magliochetti will lead efforts to revitalize the maritime industrial base and reduce vulnerabilities across Navy supply chains. He will also work to integrate dual-use commercial technologies that can improve the combat capability of Navy and Marine Corps forces.

“An agile, secure industrial base is the cornerstone of our combat readiness,” Magliochetti said. “I am committed to accelerating the delivery of resilient supply chains and cutting-edge, dual-use technologies directly into the hands of our warfighters to ensure our Sailors and Marines are ready for any high-end fight.”

Magliochetti previously served as director of the Department of the Navy’s Office of Small Business Programs and advised the secretary on small-business policy. He has 25 years of experience in structured finance, investment banking and private equity, including as co-founder and managing partner of a venture capital firm focused on national-security technologies.
