The USS Harry S. Truman (CVN 75) has returned to sea after completing emergency repairs at Naval Support Activity (NSA) Souda Bay, Greece. The Nimitz-class aircraft carrier departed Souda Bay on 23 February and has resumed operations in the U.S. Sixth Fleet area.

The vessel underwent a five-day emergent repair availability (ERAV) after sustaining damage in a collision on 12 February. The repairs, led by the Forward Deployed Regional Maintenance Center (FDRMC), were carried out in collaboration with Norfolk Naval Shipyard and Greek industry partner Theodoropoulos Group to restore the ship’s weathertight integrity.

Captain Chris Hill, commanding officer of USS Harry S. Truman, reaffirmed the carrier’s readiness and mission capability. “Our ship remains operationally ready to complete deployment with mission and purpose on full display by the entire crew,” he stated.

Captain Mollie Bily, commanding officer of FDRMC, commended the successful repair effort, underscoring the Navy’s ability to maintain warships in forward-deployed environments. She credited the swift completion of the work to the joint expertise of the Truman crew, Norfolk Naval Shipyard, and industry partners.

With repairs completed, the USS Harry S. Truman Carrier Strike Group has resumed its mission of maritime security and regional stability. The strike group includes the Ticonderoga-class guided-missile cruiser USS Gettysburg (CG 64) and three Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyers: USS Stout (DDG 55), USS The Sullivans (DDG 68), and USS Jason Dunham (DDG 109).

During its deployment, Carrier Air Wing (CVW) 1 has conducted over 5,500 sorties, including strikes against Houthi-controlled targets in Yemen and a coordinated attack on ISIS positions in Somalia. With flight operations back underway, the USS Harry S. Truman remains a key asset in ensuring stability in the region.
