The United Kingdom has announced an urgent new air defence package for Ukraine worth more than £500 million, including £150 million for NATO’s Prioritised Ukraine Requirements List and an additional 1,000 UK-manufactured missiles. The announcement was made as Defence Secretary John Healey co-chairs the 33rd meeting of the Ukraine Defence Contact Group at NATO headquarters in Brussels on 12 February 2026.

For the first time, the UK will provide £150 million to NATO’s Prioritised Ukraine Requirements List (PURL) initiative, which coordinates the rapid purchase and delivery of air defence interceptors from the United States to protect Ukrainian skies. At the same time, Britain will supply a further 1,000 Lightweight Multirole Missiles manufactured in Belfast to help defend infrastructure and cities against escalating Russian drone and missile attacks.

The £390 million missile deal builds on closer collaboration between UK and Ukrainian industry to transfer production and support of Rapid Ranger launchers and command and control vehicles to Ukraine. In the coming months, the UK will also deliver an additional 1,200 air defence missiles and 200,000 rounds of artillery ammunition through the Air Defence Consortium.

Speaking ahead of the meeting, Healey said: “As we approach the fifth year of Putin’s full scale invasion, the UK and our allies are more committed than ever to supporting Ukraine.” He added: “I’m proud of the UK’s continued leadership and pleased to confirm a new half a billion pound package of air defence, including £150 million for PURL, to help Ukrainians defend against Putin’s relentless drone and missile attacks.”

The meeting of 50 nations is being co-chaired by the UK and German Defence Minister Boris Pistorius and is attended by Ukrainian Defence Minister Mykhailo Fedorov, NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte and Australian Deputy Prime Minister Richard Marles. Participants are expected to discuss Ukraine’s key military requirements for 2026, share battlefield insights, coordinate equipment deliveries and identify capability gaps, as the UK continues to co-lead the group with Germany and the Coalition of the Willing with France.
