UK delivers new batch of Storm Shadow cruise missiles to Ukraine, reports Bloomberg

By Defence Industry Europe

In a statement today, the UK Minister of Defence confirmed that the country will send Storm Shadow (SCALP) missiles to Ukraine to help bolster the country's defence capabilities. The move is seen as a significant show of support for Ukraine.

The UK government has supplied Ukraine with a new batch of long-range Storm Shadow cruise missiles, according to a report by Bloomberg. This follows London's decision to lift restrictions on the Ukrainian Armed Forces' use of such weaponry.

Bloomberg, citing informed sources, stated that dozens of Storm Shadow missiles were delivered to Kyiv. The shipment reportedly occurred after the United States and the UK agreed to allow Ukraine to conduct long-range strikes on targets within Russia.

The exact timing of the delivery and the precise number of missiles remain undisclosed. According to Bloomberg, the sources declined to specify these details due to security concerns.

This delivery is the first under the leadership of UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer, who has pledged continued support for Ukraine in its defence against Russian aggression. Bloomberg quoted sources as saying, “The deliveries, which were not publicly announced, took place several weeks ago and were ordered after Kyiv ran low on the long-range missiles.”

The provision of Storm Shadow missiles highlights the UK’s commitment to strengthening Ukraine’s defensive capabilities. By supplying these advanced weapons, the UK aims to help Ukraine address escalating threats while reaffirming its strategic partnership, as reported by Bloomberg.
