A delegation from the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine, mandated by the President of Ukraine, has held talks with the United States on the technical details of the ‘Drone Deal’. The main focus of the visit was to discuss procurement of Ukrainian-made drones and their effective use.

The Ukrainian side presented proposals on specific drone models, their performance, and operational conditions. Meetings were held with representatives of all branches of the United States Armed Forces to address the U.S. military’s requirements for Ukrainian drones.

The U.S. side acknowledged Ukraine’s expertise in drone development, noting its capacity in the production of UAVs, maritime drones, and ground robotic systems. These negotiations form part of the preparatory work towards the signing of the ‘Drone Deal’, first announced by President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

The agreement foresees the acquisition of Ukrainian drones under a five-year contract, alongside plans for joint production of several Ukrainian models. In parallel, Ukrainian and U.S. teams also discussed the supply of U.S. weapons under the PURL mechanism.

Talks on this track focused on supply planning for 2026 and the possibility of increasing delivery volumes. Both sides emphasised that the current negotiations mark an important step in strengthening cooperation on defence technologies.
