Ukraine and the United States discuss joint ventures and major investment in defence industry

Ukraine’s Minister of Defence Denys Shmyhal has held a meeting with the Chargé d’Affaires ad interim of the U.S. Embassy in Kyiv, Julie S. Davis, and representatives of the United States International Development Finance Corporation (DFC). The discussions were focused on strengthening cooperation between the two countries in both military and economic spheres.

 

The Defence Minister underlined Ukraine’s appreciation for Washington’s assistance, describing U.S. support as comprehensive and strategically significant. He stressed that Kyiv considers military and economic cooperation with the United States to be of vital importance for the country’s security and resilience.

Both sides examined the prospects for further developing Ukraine’s defence industry with American participation. Particular attention was given to potential new joint ventures, as well as the opportunities for attracting large-scale investment projects that could support modernisation and innovation in defence production.

“U.S. producers are demonstrating considerable interest in cooperation with Ukraine. I am grateful to our partners for the constructive dialogue and their willingness to advance our cooperation,” emphasized Denys Shmyhal.

According to the ministry, the talks marked another step towards deepening the strategic partnership between Ukraine and the United States. The focus on joint ventures and investment reflects an effort to build sustainable industrial cooperation while strengthening Ukraine’s capacity to respond to security challenges.
