The announcement was made by Deputy Minister of Defence Valerii Churkin, who also reported that over 400 new Ukrainian-made weapons and equipment items have been codified since the beginning of the year. These developments reflect an ongoing push to modernise and strengthen Ukraine’s military capabilities.
Unmanned aerial systems, UAV-compatible munitions, electronic warfare assets, and vehicles were among the most frequently codified categories in April. In addition, Ukrainian manufacturers have produced and tested significant quantities of communications equipment and unmanned ground robotic systems.
Since the start of 2025, more than 40 models of unmanned aerial systems equipped with fibre-optic control have been codified and approved for use by the Defence Forces. These additions underscore a strategic emphasis on advanced and autonomous systems.
“What we currently have in our arsenal is not enough. We must respond to challenges more swiftly and invest more in technologically advanced weaponry,” stated Deputy Minister Churkin.
He further stressed the importance of expanding the use of autonomous technology across frontline units. “We have to reinforce each platoon strongpoint with unmanned systems as much as possible,” he added.
