First Deputy Minister of Defence of Ukraine, Sergiy Boyev, has held a meeting with representatives of the U.S. Embassy in Ukraine, marking a key moment in bilateral defence relations. The session also served to introduce Brigadier General Brad Nicholson, the newly appointed U.S. Defence Attaché, as Major General Keith Phillips prepares to conclude his diplomatic mission.

“I would like to acknowledge your role in strengthening the U.S.-Ukraine partnership. Thank you for your support in countering Russian aggression and defending Ukraine’s sovereignty and independence,” said Boyev, expressing his appreciation to Phillips for his service.

During the meeting, Ukrainian and U.S. officials reviewed ongoing collaborative efforts between their defence teams. Both sides affirmed the importance of identifying areas for mutually beneficial cooperation moving forward.

Major General Phillips underlined the progress of Ukraine’s defence industry and praised the quality of its scaling initiatives. In turn, Boyev and his team provided Brigadier General Nicholson with an overview of the critical needs of Ukraine’s Defence Forces, particularly in the protection of civilians and urban areas.

“The United States produces unique weapons that have proven their effectiveness in this war. Ukraine is interested in continuing to use them, both through military aid and via procurement or joint production,” Boyev emphasised.
