NATO has confirmed the successful completion of Neptune Strike 25-3, a long-planned enhanced vigilance activity demonstrating the integration of high-end maritime strike capabilities with air-land operations. The activity, held from 22 to 26 September 2025, brought together more than 10,000 sailors, soldiers, aviators and marines across European waters.

Up to 20 surface vessels and submarines, alongside Special Operations Forces from several nations and numerous aircraft, participated in the activity. Operations extended from the central Mediterranean and Adriatic Sea to the North and Baltic Seas, showcasing multinational cooperation.

In the North Sea, the carrier strike group led by the US aircraft carrier USS Gerald R. Ford operated under NATO command. It was joined by US destroyers USS Winston S. Churchill and USS Mahan, the French frigate FS Bretagne, and the Danish frigate HDMS Niels Juel.

NATO stated that the enhanced vigilance activity highlighted advanced maritime coordination and alliance readiness. “Neptune Strike 25-3 is a long-planned enhanced vigilance activity designed to demonstrate the complex integration of high-end maritime strike capabilities and air-land integration,” the Alliance underlined.
