The Ukrainian president added that the US side agreed “100 percent” with sections of the framework covering American security guarantees. He said the United States, Ukraine and European countries were “almost” aligned on joint security guarantees for Ukraine.
Trump and Zelensky also held a call with European leaders following their meeting. Trump is scheduled to speak later on Sunday by phone with Vladimir Putin, after having spoken with the Russian leader earlier the same day.

Zelensky drafted the 20-point framework in response to the Trump administration’s proposal of a separate 28-point plan to end Russia’s war in Ukraine. Under the proposal, Ukraine would receive security guarantees from the US and Europe and would be able to join the European Union at a specified future date.
Zelensky said such guarantees are “the key milestone in achieving lasting peace” and confirmed that negotiations between the US and Ukrainian sides will continue. The plan would also allow Ukraine to maintain its armed forces at about 800,000 personnel.
Fighting in the Donetsk region would be halted along current battle lines, with both Ukrainian and Russian forces withdrawing to form a demilitarised zone overseen by international forces. Zelensky is also proposing that Ukraine receive $800 billion in aid to rebuild its infrastructure and economy, saying the prosperity plan is “being finalized.”
“We appreciate the progress that was made by American and Ukrainian teams these recent weeks,” Zelensky said during the meeting. Opening the joint remarks, Trump praised his negotiating team and said the meeting was “terrific.”
“We’ve had discussions on just about every subject,” Trump said, adding that he believes both Zelensky and Putin are ready to achieve peace. Earlier on Sunday, Zelensky wrote on the social platform X that Russia launched more than 2,100 attack drones, about 800 guided aerial bombs and over 90 missiles at Ukraine during the past week.
