The agreement includes an option for an additional 90,000 fuzes and will be funded by a special allocation established to enhance the German Armed Forces’ defence capabilities.
According to local German defence media, the framework agreement is valued at EUR 97.5 million, with the option to increase the order potentially raising this figure by a further EUR 50 million.
In conjunction with the framework agreement, Junghans Microtech has secured its first executive order, valued at EUR 10.5 million, for the delivery of an initial batch of 20,000 DM52 fuzes.
Junghans Microtec stated that the DM52 electronic time fuze is designed for use with illuminating and smoke shells for artillery, as well as sensor-fuzed ammunition such as SMArt 155. This type of ammunition is the result of a collaboration between two German companies, Diehl Defence and Rheinmetall.
“We are proud to be able to supply the DM52 time fuze to the Bundeswehr through BAAINBw, in addition to the DM84 multifunction fuze,” Junghans said in a statement published on social media.
“This contract not only demonstrates the quality of our innovative and reliable solutions but also the trust placed in us and our expertise,” the company added.
