The Swedish Government has announced its largest military aid package to date for Ukraine, worth SEK 13.5 billion, while also proposing the donation of anti-tank weapons to Moldova.

These initiatives aim to strengthen the defence capabilities of both nations in response to regional security threats. With this latest package, Sweden’s total military support to Ukraine since the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion reaches SEK 61.9 billion.

The eighteenth aid package for Ukraine consists of eight components, with a major focus on procuring new military equipment from Swedish and European defence industries for direct donation. Approximately SEK 1 billion will be allocated to enhancing Ukraine’s long-range strike capabilities, including the production of long-range missiles and drones. Additionally, Sweden plans to double its previous donation of 16 Combat Boat 90s (CB 90), alongside anti-tank weapons and investments in Ukraine’s defence industry.

Alongside support for Ukraine, Sweden has proposed the donation of m/86 (AT4) anti-tank weapons to Moldova as part of the broader military aid initiative. This measure aims to strengthen Moldova’s defence capabilities, particularly as security concerns persist in the region. The proposal is included in Sweden’s additional amending budget for 2025.
