The FAT is the result of extensive testing at Thales’ Limours site in France, ensuring the radar meets the highest performance standards. Designed for enhanced air and missile defence, the system provides a high defence range with 360° coverage.
The radar features advanced Active Electronically Scanned Array (AESA) technology, enabling high-precision detection, tracking, and classification of multiple targets. It is specifically designed to counter a wide range of aerial and missile threats, including complex scenarios with both Air-Breathing Targets (ABT) and Tactical Ballistic Missiles (TBM).
Thales and Eurosam conducted the FAT with the involvement of DGA experts, DGA Governmental Quality Assurance (GQA), and OCCAR. The successful test confirms the readiness of industrial production lines for manufacturing the new generation of multifunctional radars.
Following this achievement, the first MRI radar is now being integrated with other components into the first SAMP/T NG section. This system will soon be delivered for initial trials by the French Air Force, marking a key milestone in the modernisation of France’s air defence capabilities.
