The HYDEF programme, aimed at developing an endo-atmospheric interceptor for air defence against high-velocity aerial threats, has reached a significant milestone with the signing of the fist Amendment to the Grant Agreement. Coordinated by Sistemas de Misiles de España, SL (SMS), and represented by its General Manager, Mr. Luis Mayo, the amendment was signed in conjunction with OCCAR, represented by HYDEF PD Programme Manager, Manuel Jesús de Hoyos Sánchez.

Airbus Defence and Space and Autoflug have signed a contract for the European MALE RPAS (Eurodrone) programme. This agreement includes the development, manufacturing, support, and delivery of Fuel Quantity Indication equipment. The components covered by this contract are fuel data conditioners with software, fuel sensors, and electrical cable harnesses for the twin-engine, unmanned aircraft.

Airbus Defence and Space SAU and Autoflug have signed a contract for the European MALE RPAS (Eurodrone) programme.

On November 17h and 18th, the first Near Future Submarine Technology Workshop took place. Held into Calzoni premises in Bargellino (Bologna), the workshop gathered 19 companies involved in the underwater technology domain, mostly already on-board of Near Future Submarine, giving everybody the chance to look at the state of art in the underwater domain, the future perspectives and, most important, the future of NFS itself. With this aim, Near Future Submarine Technology Workshop left the floor to major defence excellences, enriched by small and medium-sized enterprises, which are studying and developing projects and ideas looking to the future and to better meet the technical and operational needs necessary to develop the strategical UW segment.

Fincantieri to build fourth U212NFS submarine for Italian Navy

OCCAR has exercised an option for building the fourth new-generation submarine related to the U212NFS (Near Future Submarine) program for the Italian Navy.

The First Steel Cutting ceremony for the third U212 Near Future Submarine (NFS) took place at Fincantieri’s Muggiano shipyard. The ceremony was attended by Vice Admiral Abbamonte, Italian Director for Naval Armament, Programme Board and Programme Committee Representative, OCCAR Director Mr. Joachim Sucker, and Dr. Dario Deste, General Manager Naval Vessels at Fincantieri, who were also in La Spezia to attend the 7th NFS Programme Committee (PC) meeting which took place on 26 June, 2024.

The MALE RPAS Programme, also known as Eurodrone, has reached a significant milestone by successfully completing the Preliminary Design Review (PDR).

In May 2023, the HYDIS² consortium, composed of 19 partners and more than 20 subcontractors across 14 European countries, submitted a proposal for a concept architecture and technology maturation study of an endo-atmospheric interceptor against new high-end emerging threats, in the framework of the European Defence Fund 2023 work programme. On the 12th of July 2023, following a positive evaluation, the European Commission proposed the project for funding.
