The FOO Fighter system will consist of a prototype constellation of eight satellites equipped with fire control-quality sensors, enabling improved tracking and targeting from space. Delivery of the satellites and associated ground system is planned for 2026, with Millennium responsible for mission operations once in orbit.
“Meeting rapid timelines is essential to ensuring we deliver mission capabilities when needed,” said Doug Hulse, portfolio lead at Millennium Space Systems. “Completing the FOO Fighter critical design review in just 10 months highlights the efficiency and determination of our team.”
The programme is being developed for the U.S. Space Development Agency, in collaboration with L3, to advance next-generation missile defence technologies. “We are thrilled to be working for the Space Development Agency to deliver the FOO Fighter Program and helping pave a new era in the industry,” said Tony Gingiss, CEO of Millennium Space Systems.
Michelle Parker, vice president of Boeing Space Mission Systems, described FOO Fighter as “a critical component of our nation’s missile defense architecture.” She added, “We are making significant investment in our production capacity and approaches to deliver this constellation at the time of need.”
Millennium Space Systems, based in El Segundo, California, focuses on fast-paced, high-assurance satellite programmes supporting national security missions. As part of Boeing, the company contributes to building a more resilient and responsive space-based defence infrastructure.
