“We can see a clear trend towards a higher demand for this type of truck from our customers,” says Jan Hjelmgren, Head of Product Management at Volvo Trucks. “This compact, agile and easy to maneuver 4×4 truck will enable access to remote areas in rough conditions – this is a workhorse built with a clear purpose.”
The new Volvo FL 4×4 features redesigned front and rear axles, updated axle ratios and all-wheel drive, complemented by single tyres, robust exterior design and increased ground clearance. These elements aim to meet the toughest requirements in construction, rescue services, firefighting, energy and power supply, as well as defence applications.
Cab options for the truck include a day cab seating two people and a crew cab for six, while optional equipment includes a winch, bullbar, headlight protection and reinforced transfer gearbox for extreme off-road use. Powered by Volvo’s 8-litre diesel engine, the Volvo FL 4×4 will be available to order through regular Volvo Trucks sales channels, with production starting in November 2025.
